Seasonal Eating And An Improved Gut Microbiome

Seasonal eating is to your body’s benefit along with an improved gut microbiome. I’m sure you’ve heard about the connection between your gut microbiome and how it supports immunity and boosts your overall health and vitality.

Today I am asking do you want a healthier microbiome? Yes?  Well eat seasonally!

Hi, I’m Donna Williams, Holistic Health Coach and owner and creator of WOCDetox.com, short for women of color detox.com.

And yes, its quite easy and simple to do that.

Here in the USA, we eat the SAME food day after day, year after year, regardless of seasonality or where it is grown. This type of eating will feed only a small population of bacteria in the gut. And can lead to small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and other digestive woes.

Nutritional science says squash, and broccoli are good for you, and you should probably eat it to improve your health. But they do NOT grow in every season! I know this for sure because I have them in my garden, and here is one:

That means we shouldn’t be eating the same type of foods every day, without altering our diet accordingly. We need to rotate our diets throughout the year because we are intimately connected to the Earth’s vibrations and energy fields.

What Is Microbiome?

A microbiome is the community of micro-organisms living together in a particular habitat. Humans, animals and plants have their own unique microbiomes, but so do soils, oceans and even buildings.

Our lives depend on a vast number of microbes that protects us against germs, breaks down the food we eat to release energy and produces vitamins.

The microbes from the soil are absorb and in our foods which then populate our body with the beneficial bacteria we need for our health.

We are all striving for gut diversity and the improvement of our health, but no matter how many probiotic supplements you take we still fall short. Natural probiotics are found in fermented foods that contains beneficial bacterial that aid in digestion and have amazing health benefits.

Seasonal Eating That Includes Fermented Foods

You can recolonize the intestines with good intestinal flora from naturally fermented products that can be found in the refrigerated section of your health food store. But you could also make your own fermented food like sauerkraut, for instance, its pretty easy.

It not only supplies your body with millions of beneficial bacteria but also provide that bacterial with the fiber needed to thrive. Make probiotic rich foods a staple in your diet, rather than relying on probiotic supplements.
